Goodbye Dublin, Hello Belfast!
Going from Dublin to Belfast was a breeze. A few minutes' walk put us at the train station, where we finally activated our Eurail train passes, then off to Belfast!
BUT! Look what we saw right before we got on the train. If you look closely, you'll see a horse and buggy. And Peekaloo said she noticed horse & buggy lanes on the road. How cool is that?!
Beautiful scenery on the train ride. Too bad she was snoozing. She'll just have to watch the videos. 😁
Then again, she wasn't the only one.
I'm actually glad Zoey has been napping and sleeping regularly. There's been a couple of episodes but not any we couldn't help her through. Basically, we're traveling at her pace, which means about an hour sightseeing, then a LOT of rest. And sleeping on all modes of transportation. So far, so good.
Yes, this is a bottle opener. At the Holiday Inn Express in Belfast. In our room.
Irish stereotype confirmed. 🍺
After a few hours rest, we went in search of food and found this:
No, it isn't food. And your guess is as good as mine. 😊
There were a lot of fast food joints - even a Subway! - but we wanted something local, of course. We ended up at a place that had no sign outside but turned out to be quite lovely. Towards the end of our meal we found out the name: The House.
The staff was wonderfully accommodating. After we were seated, the music and noise, being seated at a mid-floor table with traffic all around, on top of the earlier 2-hour train ride were just too much for Zoey. The place was pretty packed and we were about to leave but we decided to ask our waiter if we could move to another table. We barely explained what the problem was before he ushered us upstairs and seated us in a quiet little nook with just the bartender for company. It was perfect!
Unfortunately, we couldn't stay long enough for photos but we're hoping to go back for lunch tomorrow... if we don't end up dining at the Titanic!
Or at least eating off the same menu as Titanic passengers did. I hope I don't get steerage food!
Resting on the train is smart. Love that you found your name.
